Breakfast and Lunch Menus of Hotel de Oriente
Posted by BCS on October 1, 2008
As I mentioned in my first “Then and Now” post, I found images of Hotel de Oriente’s menus on the New York Public Library Digital Collections website.
Yesterday morning I sent an email to the NYPL Photographic Services and Permissions to ask if I may be allowed to post here the images of the menus. And to my great joy, I received a reply (less than 12 hours later) from the Manager of the NYPL Photographic Services and Permissions, Mr. Thomas Lisanti, granting me permission to do so. (Thank you SO MUCH Mr. Lisanti!)
Thus, I now present to you the ACTUAL menus of Hotel de Oriente (also known as Oriente Hotel)!
Important notice regarding the images used in this particular post:
The images of Oriente Hotel’s menus used herein are property of the New York Public Library and are used with permission.
According to the Terms and Conditions of the NYPL Photographic Services & Permissions:
“Images are not to be used in any manner without the express written permission from NYPL. All images are licensed pursuant to these Terms and Conditions and the written Permissions statement you will receive.”
“Images or image files cannot be distributed or re-sold independent from the specific use for which permission is granted and may not be used in a manner allowing permanent storage or re-use by third parties.”
For this, I advice you to contact the NYPL Photographic Services & Permissions should you want to use the aforementioned images for whatever purpose you may have. Furthermore, I advice you, once permitted, to source the images directly from the NYPL Digital Collections website as the ones posted here have been scaled down and are of slightly lower quality.
